Boat trip from Antwerp to Vilvoorde and Brussels. Return to Antwerp on own initiative (train).

Unique intercity boat trip between Antwerp and Vilvoorde / Brussels. A guided boat trip between these two metropolises is a special experience. We sail on the mighty Scheldt and on the Sea canal, one of our country's economically most important and oldest canals.

Shortly after our departure, we sail past the renovated Antwerp quays, with a nice view of the skyline of the city. The trip continues past Hemiksem, Zwijndrecht, Burcht and the new flood area of the 'Kruibeek polders' until we reach the Wintam / Bornem Sea lock. This Sea lock has a length of 250m and can lock ships of up to 10,000 tonnes.

During this excursion it will soon become clear that the Sea canal has many tourist-recreational assets in addition to its economic function. After passage of the lock, we sail along the natural reserve 'Noordelijk Eiland' with grassland, willows and ponds. We continue through the Green Belt, where you discover richly vegetated canal banks, the habitat for herons and shore swallows.

After our passage in the lock at Zemst and leaving rural Grimbergen behind us, we sail into a more urban environment. While cruising and enjoying a drink on deck, you will discover here new residences, walking 'promenades' and cycling bridges on the waterfront.

Disembarkation is possible in Vilvoorde.

Once we have passed the Brussels Ring Viaduct, we approach our final destination; Heembeek quay in Brussels.
