We bring you by bus from Halle to Thieu.
After arriving at Thieu, we take a short walk to the hydraulic ship lift n° 4 on the historic Centre Canal. The guide explains this unique old type of ship lift (recognised as a Unesco World Heritage Site).
We start the boat trip. Immediately after departure we navigate in the impressive ship elevator of Strépy-Thieu, which allows us to bridge a height difference of 73m. We continue our boat trip on the new 'canal du Centre', which has been constructed as a kind of aqueduct above the landscape and enjoy a panoramic view on the Hainaut plateau.
We continue our trip on the Canal Charleroi-Brussels and we 'track' down the Inclined Plane of Ronquières (68m) in a large water basin. Finally the ship passes through the boat locks of Ittre and Lembeek.
Our daytrip takes end in Halle, where we disembark.
