During this guided boat trip, we will pass through the impressive Strépy-Thieu ship lift twice and sail along the highest water level of the 'canal du Centre', which is also the highest navigation level in Belgium.
The new 'canal du Centre' was constructed as a canal bridge on high pilars above the surrounding landscape. This offers beautiful views over the Hainaut plateau. Near the flood defence structure on the 'canal du Centre' the ship will turn and will cruise back towards Strépy-Thieu.
The descent in the large Strépy-Thieu ship lift on our way back is even more spectacular than the ascent.
A tailor made programme can be arranged for groups: the boat trip can be combined with a visit to the exhibition in the Strépy-Thieu tower, to hydraulic lift no. 3 and the engine room, or a visit to the former Bois du Luc mining site...
