A bus will take participants from Halle to the Strépy-Thieu boat lift, where a short guided tour is planned. After a brief stop at the hydraulic lift No. 1 of the historic Canal du Centre (a UNESCO World Heritage site), we will make our way to the boat's departure point.
The boat trip starts in Seneffe, where the Brussels-Charleroi Canal and the Centre Canal meet.
We sail through a gently undulating landscape and reach the top of the Ronquières inclined plane. In a large pool of water, we overcome a difference in height of 68 metres.
We continue on the Brussels-Charleroi canal through the green Zenne valley. Our cruise passes through the communes of Ittre, Braine-le-Château, Tubize and Lembeek, and we pass through the large lock at Ittre (with a 14 m difference in level!) and the lock at Lembeek.
End of the boat trip in Halle.
Cyclists can follow the new and old Brussels-Charleroi Canal from Halle to Seneffe and back by boat.
