Boat trip from Vilvoorde, Grimbergen and Kapelle-op-den-Bos to the idyllic Klein-Willebroek. Return by boat or by bicycle.

Boat trip from Vilvoorde to the picturesque Klein-Willebroek (boarding is also possible at Grimbergen and Kapelle-op-den-Bos). We sail through the rural Green Belt, experience the passage through the large lock of Zemst.

During this guided boat trip, you will learn not only that the Sea canal is an important economic transport route, but also that it has many tourist attractions. Besides several marinas and water sports clubs, you will discover a lot of nature and beautiful green banks, sheltering numerous water birds.

Our destination is the charming Klein-Willebroek, located between Rupel and Sea canal. Klein-Willebroek is a pearl of historical heritage. It has managed to preserve its cosy village centre and pretty little inner harbour. You can still find the old lock master's house (the 'Sashuis', currently set up as a nautical museum) and a small historic lock, which is still operated.

From the Rupel Dike, you have a view over the river and the surrounding nature reserves.

After our stop, we started our return trip to Vilvoorde around 2pm.

The alternative is a that you cycle back home. The most beautiful and easiest cycle route to combine with the (single) boat trip is an uninterrupted cycle path from Klein-Willebroek, along the Rupel, the Dijle and the Zenne to Vilvoorde. This cycling route you can find here.

We also offer this package in the opposite direction, where you come by bike to Klein-Willebroek and then join the boat trip to Vilvoorde.

Boating & cycling

Do you love our waterways and nature, a relaxing bike ride and a fresh breeze aboard a ship? Then a boat trip through the Green Belt, the Zenne Valley or the National Park Scheldt Valley is definitely something for you. Out by boat and back by bike or vice versa: most boat trips can be perfectly combined with a relaxing bike ride. You can explore the region along one of the many signposted cycling routes. Cycling is done on your own initiative and with your own bike.
